UMC to host Bible study

LEWISTOWN — First Bakers United Methodist Church will host a Bible study every Wednesday at 7 p.m. They will also host a youth group for individuals under age 18 on the first Thursday of each month, except July.

McALISTERVILLE — Upcoming events at Stone Run Mission:

• Sept. 11 — Lebanon Valley Gospel Band will be sharing at 2:30 p.m.

• Sept. 18 — Pastor Nick Smith will be sharing in a Holy Candlelight Communion Service at 6 p.m.

• Sept. 25 — There will be no services at the church. Join us for our 12th annual Riding on Faith Tractor Service at Basom Memorial Park in Richfield. Bring lawn chairs and join us for church service with Downin Lane at 10 a.m. Bring a covered dish and join us for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Bring your tractor and join us for our tractor ride from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

MILROY — Schrader United Methodist Church will host the following speakers during its 8:30 a.m. services:

MIIDDLEBURG — Mercy Run and the Seger Family will perform at an outdoor Gospel music concert Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022 at St. Paul’s (Erdley’s) Lutheran Church, 2337 Erdley Church Road, Middleburg (Smalsh Barrick Road and Erdley Church Road). The concert will be held outside, rain or shine, in the picnic grove. Mercy Run performs at 2 p.m. The Seger Family performs at 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Divorce care and divorce care for kids (DC4K) kicks-off

BELLEVILLE – Divorce Care for adults and DC4K (Divorce Care for Kids) kicks off Sept. 12, 2022, at New Life Church, 101 N. Beech Street, Burnham, PA and at Locust Grove Church at 3358 W. Main Street, Bellevile, PA.

The Divorce Care program runs in conjunction with Divorce Care for Kids (DC4K). In Burnham, parents attending Divorce Care at New Life Church are invited to enroll their children in Divorce Care for Kids (DC4K) there while families attending the Belleville group will enroll their children at Locust Grove. Registration can be done in advance by calling the phone numbers below. DC4K is a student support group for children ages five – 12 whose families are experiencing separation/divorce.

At DC4K, kids are engaged in crafts, games, activities, DVD dramas, and music. The program is scheduled to run through Dec. 12, 2022, and will feature small groups. DC (Divorce Care) for adults is a divorce support group that meets weekly for 13 weeks to help adults recover from the pain of separation and divorce. Participants experience a warm, caring environment led by people who care and want to help attendees find healing and wholeness in the midst of their circumstances. One DC participant reported: “My life was pretty much in shambles when I began DivorceCare.

fall roundup set for Sept. 17

MCALISTERVILLE — Promise Ranch Ministries fall roundup is Saturday, Sept. 17 beginning at 11 a.m. at 106 Meadow Lane, McAlisterville. Open house event will include a fun show, trail obstacle course challenge, silent basket auction, pony rides, critter corral, face painting, hay bale throwing contest, wagon rides, live music, drill team entertainment, airplane candy drop and Ironwood Drive concert to finish the day. BELLEVILLE — There will be a community concert at Watts Memorial United Methodist Church, 38 Walnut Street, Belleville. The brother/sister duo known as Buffalo Valley Bluegrass will present a concert of bluegrass and gospel music Sunday, Sept. 18 at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome. Bring a lawn chair. Light refreshments will be served.

MIFFLINTOWN — Former pastor David Wriglesworth will speak during services at First Baptist Church of Juniata County on Sept. 18. Wriglesworth will speak for the church’s 60th anniversary. Wriglesworth now resides in South Dakota and was pastor at First Baptist in the 80s.

LEWISTOWN — Community churches are joining together on Sunday, Sept. 18 to worship at the Mifflin County High School. The Hope Collective Worship service starts at 10 a.m. A church joint choir will perform.

Helping Hands, Helping Others holding food giveaway

BEAVERTOWN — Helping Hands, Helping Others Inc. is holding a food giveaway on Wednesday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Beavertown Hillbilly Fever Carnival Grounds off East Sassafras in Beavertown. Always the third Wednesday of the month. Please do not arrive before 9:30 a.m. There will be plenty of food available.

Volunteers are needed and should arrive at 8:30 to get organized. Any size donation is appreciated and is a 501-C3 tax donation. Send to P.O. Box 151, Beavertown, PA 17813. The event is not government funded. There are no income guidelines.

BEAVERTOWN — An outdoor concert by Joe Bonson will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022 at the Beavertown United Methodist Church, 124 North Orange St. Public is invited to attend. Bring lawn chairs. Refreshments will be served following the concert.

LEWISTOWN — Pine Glen Alliance Church will host a Hearts and Hands Women’s Conference for women 18 years and older at 6 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Family Life Center. Cost is $16 and seating is limited. Seats can be reserved by calling (717) 348-5592, (717) 348-6431 or (717) 250-5143. Reservation deadline is Sept. 25. The topic discussed at 7:15 p.m. will be “Shelter in the Storm.”

A love offering will be taken for the speaker, Becky Carpenter, the founder of One Day Closer Ministries.

TROXELVILLE — A Fall Fest will be held on Oct. 1, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at Grace Reformed Church in Troxelville. The event features food, fun and fellowship including a bounce house with slide, a sports combo toss, pumpkin painting, making scarecrows, hayrides and games. Rain date is Oct. 8. 50th Annual Juniata County CROP Hunger Walk

MIFFLINTOWN — The 50th Annual Juniata County CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Sunday, Oct. 9th, at Walker Township Park or Facebook Live. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. and the Walk begins at 2 p.m. The Juniata County CROP 5K Fun Run/Walk (7 laps around the park) benefits world-wide Hunger Ministries through Church World Service and, locally, the Juniata County Meals on Wheels and the Juniata County Food Pantry. Grief Share at Pine Glen

MCVEYTOWN — ‘Surviving the Holidays’ is a one day program presented by Grief Share at the Pine Glen Alliance Church near McVeytown on Thursday Nov. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The program features practical, biblical based information that will help you face the upcoming holidays after the death of a loved one. There is no cost and no pre-registration needed.
